Peru's rich coffee culture is deeply rooted in cooperative structures, particularly to support coffee cultivated on small farms. A prime illustration is Central de Cafetaleros del Nororiente (CECANOR), with dedicated coffee producers located in more than 70 communities across Northern Peru.
These farms embrace regenerative farming, a forward-thinking approach that doesn’t just sustain the land—it actively revitalizes and strengthens entire ecosystems. By prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and clean water, this method nurtures the foundation of thriving agriculture. Coffee is grown in harmony with other crops, chemical use is minimized, and practices like cover cropping enrich the soil and boost water retention—building resilience against climate challenges. The result is more than just sustainable coffee—it’s a model for profitable, climate-smart farming that empowers growers and restores the planet, one harvest at a time.
